Solel Beit Midrash (Temple Solel Adult Learning)

We encourage all members of our community to explore the many opportunities to learn as part of our Temple Solel family. Education does not stop with the bar/bat mitzvah or when one finishes college. Jewish education can begin or resume at any time. In that vein, the Solel Beit Midrash offers a diverse Jewish learning program with a wide range of appeal.

Along with prayer, and acts of Tikkun Olam, life-long learning is fundamental to Jewish life. In addition to informing us about our history, heritage, and culture, participating in Jewish learning facilitates the development of lasting friendships and a strong sense of belonging to a vibrant spiritual community. By examining issues from a Jewish perspective, participants can enhance their understanding of human behavior, values and ethics that impact every aspect of one's personal and professional life.

Solel Beit Midrash Learning Goals
The Beit Midrash is an expression of Temple Solel's mission "to be a vibrant inclusive and engaged Reform Community, grounded in relationships and deeds, and elevated by Shabbat and Torah." With the intention of converting our words into action, participants in our Adult Jewish Learning programs can:

  • Experience the power of prayer
  • Find personal growth through Jewish learning
  • Be guided by the precepts of Jewish ethics
  • Act on the expectation of social justice
  • Experience the joy of our life-cycle events
  • Understand the spirituality of Jewish holidays
  • Learn about events and issues in the local and global Jewish community
  • Create a meaningful sacred community
