Selichot - Dessert Reception, Program and Service

Klal Gadol baTorah”— The Search for the Essence of Judaism with Rabbi Darren Kleinberg

The High Holy Day season, which begins with the Selichot service, refocuses our attention to what is most important. In this text-based discussion we will look to the Talmud for early attempts at identifying the core mission of Judaism. As we reflect on our early rabbis understanding of the Klal Gadol—great principle—of Judaism, we will develop a greater understanding of our own personal mission as members of the Jewish people in particular and human race in general.

Rabbi Darren Kleinberg is the Director and Lead Educator of Valley Beit Midrash, a collaborative, non-denominational adult education institute, including Temple Solel, serving the Greater Phoenix area. He is currently pursuing a doctorate in the religious studies department at Arizona State University with a focus on pluralism in the American Jewish community in the second-half of the twentieth century.

Services following this program will be led by Rabbi Linder and Cantorial Soloist Todd Herzog.
