Rachel (Gubin) O’Connor grew up in Phoenix, AZ, alongside her twin sister,
Ruth Gerstman, who is also an active member of the temple. She has three other
siblings: two older sisters and a brother. Rachel moved to Los Angeles, CA, to
pursue her passion for fashion at F.I.D.M., later furthering her education in the
industry at F.I.T. in New York City. Over the next fifteen years, she worked for
major fashion companies, including Saks Fifth Avenue, Macy’s, and Dillard’s, in
corporate planning, buying, and product development.
It was in New York City that she met her husband, Kevin O’Connor, who has
a successful career in marketing. The couple has three children—Charley, Quinn,
and Sawyer—who were all born in NYC. Now, all their children attend Temple
Solel Raker School. Rachel has been working in corporate financial planning at
Sprouts Farmers Market since 2018, when she returned home to Arizona.
Rachel’s connection to the temple is strong and lifelong. Her father,
Stephen Gubin, served as a past President of the board and met her mother,
Helen Gubin, at Temple Solel. The family has celebrated all its significant Jewish
life milestones at Temple Solel, including weddings (hers and her siblings;), Bar
and Bat Mitzvahs, Baby Naming’s, and funerals. With a deep commitment to the
community, Rachel looks forward to continuing her involvement and helping to
preserve the warm, welcoming energy of Temple Solel.
