Joan was born and raised in Arizona, and after spending 40 years in
California moved back to her childhood home in 2011 to the desert that she
loves. After shopping around, Joan and her daughter, Jordanna, found
Temple Solel! Joan has been a member since then and loves the people,
attending services and helping out when needed.
Joining the Caring Community was the perfect venue to meet Joan’s desire
to be of service. She has spearheaded the Shiva committee by assisting
Solel families through sorrowful and confusing times. Joan states that
attending Shiva and sharing others’ grief journeys has been an honor and
guided her personal and spiritual growth.
Joan is actively involved in Saving Amy, Inc. (SA) a nonprofit assisting
newly homed people achieve independence and thrive in our community.
She became involved when Solel was cooking Thanksgiving meals for the
families and now coordinates a very successful yearly food drive. SA states
their gratitude for the generosity of Temple Solel.
As a Jew and, professionally as a Marriage Family Therapist (LMFT), Joan
believes that G-d (and the self) is experienced and understood in
relationships. She is honored to be a part of a thriving Jewish community.
